Highway Network

Columbia County is ideally located on I-20, a major interstate highway that runs east-west through the major cities of Atlanta, Augusta and Columbia, S.C.  I-20 connects directly to numerous major interstate highways, including I-75, I-85, & I-95 in Georgia, I-26 & I-77 in South Carolina, and I-59 & I-65 in Alabama.  Additional highways in the area include State Routes 1 & 25 running north-south, and State Routes 78 & 278 running east-west. 

Two significant road projects are currently underway in the area: the Savannah River Parkway, which will provide a faster drive time between the Augusta MSA and Savannah (142 miles), and the Fall Line Freeway, which will provide a faster drive time between the Augusta MSA and Macon (125 miles)
