The Development Authority of Columbia County is the lead economic development organization for the county. Using a variety of marketing, financial, and strategic planning tools, it seeks to recruit quality businesses and a talented workforce, and to help retain and expand existing firms in the county, for the benefit of the county's diverse population.
A Message from the Chairman
While Columbia County is blessed with tremendous economic assets – including an ideal interstate location, a low cost for doing business, and outstanding infrastructure – it is the skill level of residents in this community that make it one of Georgia's fastest growing and nationally recognized places to live and work. Our motivated and well-trained workforce consists of people dedicated to creating a better community for a wide variety of businesses, including those enterprises serving the medical and military sectors.
Since 1970, our population has grown by roughly 500% to over 100,000 people. County crime rates are exceptionally low, and the percent of home ownership, voter participation, and high school graduation rates are exceptionally high. While these intangible qualities do not appear on any business earnings report, they have everything to do with productivity and a company's "bottom line."
